Square Enix has released SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered, an updated version of the classic RPG originally launched in 1999. The game is now available for Android, iOS, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. As with other offline RPG releases from Square Enix, the biggest issue is the mobile price — it’s quite high. The title comes with graphical improvements and gameplay updates, costing US$ 29.99 (approximately R$ 150).
SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered brings back its iconic watercolor-style visuals, now in high definition, along with a completely redesigned interface. The story is told in a fragmented way through the History Choice system, allowing players to explore events in any order and experience different perspectives of the world of Sandail.
At the heart of the plot are two protagonists: Gustave, a royal heir who cannot use magic, and Will, a young explorer searching for relics of the past. The game alternates between their storylines, deepening both character development and narrative.

The remaster includes several new features, such as the Parameter Inheritance system, which allows characters to pass on attributes, new events, tougher bosses, and additional playable characters.
Other highlights include a high-speed function, New Game+ mode, and the ability to send excavators on automated expeditions — though they need to be supervised as they may get distracted during the mission.
The combat system remains based on glimmer (where characters learn new skills mid-battle) and one-on-one duels, a trademark of the SaGa series.
