NetherSX2 Classic v2.0a is essentially a “remastered” version of the best AetherSX2 build — version 3668.

That’s right, it’s not a patch. This version already includes AetherSX2 inside.

As everyone knows, before shutting down the legendary PlayStation 2 emulator, the AetherSX2 developer released a problematic update on Google Play that included intentional bugs and ads.

This new version brings significant improvements by merging features scattered across previous builds and fixes originally made in PCSX2, using a database system without modifying the source code directly.

 

Changelog:

• This version should prevent the Play Store from installing version 3064 over it.
• Updated internal version to enable Hardcore mode support for RetroAchievements.
• Rebuilt GameDB — based on the original 3668 with selected fixes from the NetherSX2 patch applied.
• Updated ControllerDB, Widescreen patches, and No-Interlacing patches to their latest versions.
• Most custom features from version 4248 were ported to 3668. More new features are in development.

Solid foundation and RetroAchievements support

The new build is based on version 3668 of AetherSX2 but includes additional implementations, including full support for the RetroAchievements system. This feature had previously been discontinued for AetherSX2 but was restored thanks to collaboration between the RetroAchievements team and the NetherSX2 developer.

Additionally, the emulator received a new game compatibility database, updated controller database, widescreen and no interlacing patches — all properly adjusted to work with the current build.

Easy installation and no ads

Unlike previous versions that required manually compiling the app, NetherSX2 2.0A Classic is now available in ready-to-install format. The APK can be downloaded directly from the official Mobile Gamer Brasil Discord or Telegram (links in the description).
