City of Wars: mobile game inspired by the Yakuza franchise will disappoint you!

HKBBGL has officially launched City of Wars: Powered by Yakuza, a new real-time strategy game licensed by SEGA. The title is now available for Android and iOS devices in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Originally announced in September 2024 with pre-registration starting in December of the same year, the game combines strategic gameplay in the style of Clash of Clans with the classic Japanese underworld theme — but without the QTEs, fights, and action from the Yakuza series.

Conquer Bliss Isle and become the big boss

In City of Wars, players take control of a growing empire on the fictional Bliss Isle, fighting for territories and industrial sectors to become the island’s “boss.” The game allows players to manage businesses, accumulate wealth, and engage in automatic battles in both PvP and PvE modes.

One of the game’s main appeals is the ability to recruit classic characters from the Yakuza series, such as Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Majima, Ichiban Kasuga, Akira Nishikiyama, and others. In addition to resource management and battles, the game also includes social and simulation elements, such as running a nightclub, going on romantic dates, and forming alliances with other players.

Gacha

The game offers a gacha system to unlock characters, as well as special missions, style customization, and strategies to climb the rankings. The setting and characters are directly inspired by the Yakuza franchise, focusing on reputation building and expanding influence in the fictional underworld of the island.

City of Wars: Powered by Yakuza is available for free download on digital stores in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. There is no official date for a global release yet, but fans of the series are already looking forward to news about a possible launch in the West.
